Tim Russert

Reference yesterday’s entry..thanks for the comments you left..isn’t it wierd that most of us have never met face to face but we are xanga friends and still get to know each other.  I think it is because we get our feelings out and most of us are girls in different levels of emotional health but all still emotional.  Us Xanga friends don’t have all of the other crap, we just get down to business with the word.Thank you for your comments.  I truly feel supported.

…and then to Tim Russert…is anyone out there sharing the overwhelming sadness because of his death.  I’m a Meet the Press fan and have always been a huge fan of Tim and the humaness (is that a word) that he brought to reporting politics.  Jenny’s father in law, Carl,  wearing his Miami Dolphins jacket was observing the action at a John Edwards event prior to the Iowa caucus…Tim Russert walked up to him and said…”you poor sucker” and pointed to the Miami Dolphin’s jacket…they exchanged a laugh and had a short conversation about football.  Carl was so impressed with his down home attitude and friendliness.

I watched a couple of hours on CNN tonight with Campbell Brown, Larry King, et al about Tim’s life and am very, very sad that he is gone.  David Bloom and Peter Jennings were hard to take but Tim Russert’s death brings tears to my eyes. . RIP.

  1. i cried and cried when i hears of tim’s death. i felt funny for doing so but couldn’t stop. i like many other depended on him for his insight. the rest of the o8 campaign is going to have a big void with tim gone.i feel better knowing you all are sad too, now i don’t feel so strange for caring so deeply about a news guy on tv.

  3. Yeah, sad about Tim and bewildered too because he was so young. And I have to wonder how much lower into shallow sensationalism the media will go without him.

  4. I was in complete shock when I got home.  I shed a couple of tears.  Strange – that I only knew him from tv but he seemed so much like one of the non smarmy exceptions – and it appears he really was.  So incredibly sad he’s gone.    The upcoming debate coverage won’t be the same.  I loved how non biased he was and that I really felt like I could put stock in what he said.  He got it.  I’m sad for his family.  What a big void he’ll leave in the world both personally and professionally.  So quick, so young.

  5. I was shocked at how devastated I was about Tim’s passing.  He was so young.  I think he was one of the very few journalists left that have any integrity.  He and his truth and honesty will really be missed.

  6. There are an awful lot of great, supportive friends on Xanga, that is for sure!  I’m glad you feel that way, too.I couldn’t believe the shocking news about Tim Russert!  I will really miss his presence, especially in the upcoming presidential coverage.  Of course, I am so sorry for him, personally, to pass away so young, and for his family.  Kathi
