Deadheading petunias…..

Note to Gramma gardeners…when you are letting the two year old help you deadhead petunias, do not turn your head…

Because before you know it, the marigolds get it too.

and then they are bald.  When I turned around to see the shredded marigold blooms on the ground, all I could do was laugh out loud.  I should have known something was going on when he quit saying urple and started saying ello.

The rain stopped…the sun was out, I had a haircut, color and great conversation with the son-in-law, did some browsing and shopping at the greenhouse and got to spend time with Jax.  It was a perfect Friday!

Until next time….

  2. Deadheading Petunias? Your post title is misleading. I thought you were going to talk about a rock band.
Actually, deadheading the flowers will increase blooms as the summer commences. Your grandson knew what he was doing. If you have any geraniums though, you will want to just pull them. They are a noxious weed that smells bad and makes me itch. I am required to plant one on Mom’s grave annually on Mother’s Day because I said disparaging things about her geranium infestation when she was alive. This is the only day of the year that I allow myself to touch geraniums, and only then, with leather gloves. This is my penance. I guess she got even with me though. She left me Dad!
