So, I am sitting in the OR waiting room today waiting and I get stuck with the family with Donny Downer as their family member.  In 2 hours, I did not hear Donny Downer say one positive thing. I first started paying attention when they were talking about Iowa Boy and Indianapolis Colts Tight end Dallas Clark – and the fact that he wasn’t coached right and even though he and Peyton do have a chemistry and he is a great TE, they shouldn’t expect him to be catching balls because he isn’t a wide receiver…we went from that to being a downer because his brother (I assume) a former Maytag worker was having medical insurance issues…he tells the brother that now he knows how they all felt because they were outside looking in at the bro’s great coverage and now the bro is looking out – or some asinine thing…we then immediately jump to dentists – obviously no dental insurance there because his last dental visit which included cleaning, xrays and the dentist checking his teeth cost him $150 and he told the dentist he wasn’t coming back because he can’t afford the fees…”o well, who gets the bad end of that deal”…that and the dentist is married to a former sports director at a DM TV station and donny downer was relating in his pathetic tone that the dentist could just retire on the wifes salary…The medical problems us Iowas have – well what do you expect with all of the farmers in this part of the country…when I heard the words “what do you expect in this town it has always been that way” I had to get up and go to the restroom because I was starting to feel some anxiety…What has happened to Donny Downer…I have met and know several people with  pessimistic attitudes – but usually not to this severity…being around this type of person totally sucks the energy out of the universe…..are people so beaten down that absolutely nothing in life suits their needs – I really believe that you are what you think and when you think negative all of the time, that is what you receive in return…negative…I hope someone in his family will recognize this self-defeating attitude and try to help him see that he is what he thinks…. and with this kind of attitude it is only going to get worse… although I didn’t get the impression from is laboring dialogue that he was necessarily depressed just a negative junkie or maybe just spoiled because his family enables him to behave like this….
