To Understand there is no tomorrow
He and I just returned from our yearly 3 day fall trip to Decorah, Iowa. Specifically to lose ourselves in the forest at Palisade Park above the City. It’s always a very personal voyage with myself … lost in the leaves and the color and the fall breeze that always reminds me who I am…. or actually who I am not. A couple years ago while dredging through the leaves, tree stumps and broken limbs, I came face to face with a deer.

She had no fear, I had no fear. It changed me.
Using all of my 5 senses while out in nature and leaving my monkey brain back in the car, puts my life in perspective…erasing woulda, shoulda, coulda from the looped play list in my head and allowing me to just be with the calm and thoughtful human that I know I really am.
I am not the same person who exited the car to begin the trek over weeds, tree limbs and terrain… I experienced the beauty of living in the moment. I have hope and calmness and a knowing that the massive amount of life that I walk through is really only illusion and not who I am.
And…no deer this year but lots of squirrels.
