The Heritage Carousel at Union Park in Des Moines just makes me feel young and giggly! I had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend.

Saturday he and I met Gena and him-in-law in Colfax, had Casey’s Pizza, went to the Colfax Main Street first concert of the season featuring MY band, Slipstream!

I have a lot of connections with this band and have followed the group when many of them were all together forming the eight track band…him-in-law calls me a groupie which is probably pretty accurate.
Gena is remodeling her house in Colfax so he and I slept on a double bed in the dining room…this nocturnal thing went a lot better than I was expecting although we did have to touch while we slept….
Kate fixed Mother’s Day brunch for us, we went to ride the carousel..which I might add I was the only one excited…UNTIL WE GOT THERE! Adam made the comment as we were leaving that the people who live across from the park and hear the carousel organ music over and over again all day, every day must be about ready to kill themselves.
Our soon-to-be son-in law does what he always does – drove us around Des Moines to see whatever we wanted to see…it’s always fun to reaquaint ourselves with the place we used to call home…I hope he enjoys it as much as we do. Then…. we got to do what mothers like to do best…get a glimpse of their kids life that we only hear about – so we went to visit Kate’s classroom. My daughter is amazing!
We left Des Moines around 2 so we could avoid the incoming storms. Got home before dark. Ate forbidden food for supper, pineapple sherbet and toaster waffles – in that order – then got me in an episode of Call the Midwife before I crashed.
It’s Monday – bring it on…..
Until next time….
That slide looks like so much fun!
This post makes me smile. Your happiness shines through every word.
