Someone thinks I’m a bitch?

I was leaving a comment on @strawberryfieldsgirl this morning – her blog was one of those that makes me think…YAH. That took me to perceptions in my mind. How do other people see us. We know who we are within our own minds; yet, how many times are you surprised to learn that someone doesn’t see you the way you think you present yourself. Especially when you learn their perceptions are absolutely, totally opposite how YOU think others see you. I’ll never forget when a new hire in the jail told someone that I was a bitch. This woman had seen me once..had talked to me on the intercom perhaps twice..I always try to be on my best behavior at work and treat new people very well….even if I think they are ignorant or dumber than mud …I make it a point to always be friendly with a helpful smile regardless of what I”m thinking…I think they say that is having a good poker face. She said I was a bitch. I took it to heart – it didn’t hurt my feelings because I thought she was an idiot and come to find out I was right but it made me stop in my tracks and re-evaluate.

Which leads me to the phrase “you can’t fix stupid”. You can even try to prepare yourself for stupid…but it only lowers the bar to a new level. I don’t know what it is? Small town stupid? No consequences growing up stupid? Lack of real intelligence? apathy? Are truly stupid people even aware that others think they are stupid? Is it just my perception of stupidity. No..I don’t think or the buzz phrase “can’t fix stupid” wouldn’t have gotten around so quickly.

Until next time….

  1. @strawberryfieldsgirl – Oh, that is interesting. You have those perfectionism tendencies – those are hard. I deal with those, too. Drives me nuts.

  2. @skanickadee – i took that 3 times (perfectionism?? lol) and got 3 different things…some of those were hard to answer. But my top 3 types in different order were always calmness, individualism and perfectionism…damn that perfectionism!! it can really interfere with calmness. hahaha

  3. @tracy – That does sound like him. I tried figuring out which one was Craig but I don’t know. He doesn’t seem to fit well into any of the categories. Maybe a 1 at work.

  4. @Jst4e – YUP! I try to keep a reign on the negative talk it just doesn’t serve any purpose. Talking nicely about someone when you’re gathered in a group is much better.

  5. It doesn’t really brother me hearing what others think about me even if it is bad except for when it is family. That’s when I get upset. Often times my siblings and their spouses have a completely different view of me. It really is shocking. I learned a long time ago stupid people tend to all gather around each other and talk about other people. I can spot that group from a mile away! Nothing good comes out of all that!

  7. @tracy – Thanks! It was kind of freaky to read the descriptions and find them so accurate. It would be interesting to have Craig do this as he sees me. Haha that might be enlightening. @Ninasusan – It is quite eye opening. You will have fun checking it out.

  8. @skanickadee – 6 & 9 relationship. What Each Type Brings to the RelationshipThis is one of the most stable and most common relationships””Both tend to see themselves as simple, regular people and do not feel special or exempt in any way. Both bolster the other’s confidence through their solidarity with each other. They are generous with each other and do not crowd the other or make special demands. “And now I’ll stop taking up all of Ninas space. 🙂

  14. You & Me together:Enneagram Type Two (the Helper)withEnneagram Type Nine (the Peacemaker)What Each Type Brings to the RelationshipEnneagram Twos and Nines are similar in a wide variety of areas and reactions; both types are interested in nurturing others and in helping people to be better, more comfortable with themselves, and more at peace. Both types also tend to be optimistic and to reframe disappointments in the most positive way possible. This pairing has an outstanding warm, kindly, and good-natured quality about it that each side reinforces. Twos and Nines are easy-going, hospitable, and undemanding, happy to make friends happy and to welcome them into their home. Twos bring to the pair a more outward and interpersonally engaging energy: they would most likely be the first to introduce themselves at a party or to go to someone’s aid and comfort if they perceived that the other person had some kind of problem. Twos are proud of their relationship, their home, their family and their friends—and they want to share them with others. Twos constantly add energy and new people to the relationship mix. They are more talkative than Nines and more openly curious about other people, how they live and what they are like, and more eager to get involved in others’ lives. On the other hand, Nines bring a quiet steadiness and uncomplicated directness that allows people to flourish and things to get done with a minimum of stress and conflict. Even if Twos become upset about their relationships, or are feeling moments of self-doubt about how loved they are, Nines have a way of calming them down and of providing a great deal of unquestioned acceptance. Both types are drawn to each other to provide soothing and support; their home and hearth, pets and love of nature are extremely important to them. Both go out of their way to be considerate of each other, as well as of other people. Much of their best communication is non-verbal, physical, arising from their simple, direct presence to each other. They can develop almost a psychic link with each other. This is a very mellow couple, whose emphasis on hospitality reminds people of how healing it is to be around loving, generous people.

  15. Do you think you are type 2? I do.Type Two in BriefTwos are empathetic, sincere, and warm-hearted. They are friendly, generous, and self-sacrificing, but can also be sentimental, flattering, and people-pleasing. They are well-meaning and driven to be close to others, but can slip into doing things for others in order to be needed. They typically have problems with possessiveness and with acknowledging their own needs. At their Best: unselfish and altruistic, they have unconditional love for others.
Basic Fear: Of being unwanted, unworthy of being loved
Basic Desire: To feel loved
Enneagram Two with a One-Wing: “Servant”
Enneagram Two with a Three-Wing: “The Host/Hostess”Key Motivations: Want to be loved, to express their feelings for others, to be needed and appreciated, to get others to respond to them, to vindicate their claims about themselves.

  17. One of my former bosses that I still speak to asked me to take a personality test today.http://similarminds.com/test.html The enneagram test. He’s been studying the tests and how to use them in life & business. He wanted to see if he was adept and classifying me. I thought it was interesting that when he saw my results he said, “that’s exactly how I see you”. Interesting to get that glimpse into how other people actually perceive you.Just thought it was interesting timing. 🙂

  18. When I think of “stupid” ppl I think of shallow, uncaring, always gotta be right no matter how much sense it doesn’t make…I think stupid is just a general ignorance and yeah, apathy of just about everything that really matters, or should matter. It is interesting to see yourself thru others’ eyes. But I think you have to have some kind of intelligence to even entertain the thought of contemplating it…which leads back to your comment about going thru life with an open mind. A necessity if we’re to ever learn anything. And then I wonder, how much of that is nature vs nurture…..Every question leads to another. 🙂
