Happiness gently landed on my shoulders

Finally…I feel better….this has been a nasty virus…

My mother-in-law is in the nursing home for a couple of weeks for speech therapy and to help her regain her strength after the stroke.  We are taking care of Freckles…the cocker spaniel…contrary to what you may believe, there is a difference between 3 and 4 dogs.  Freckles pushes the envelope as far as the cats are concerned…it’s probably going to take one of them to whack him a couple of times before he will learn.

MIL went to the hospital two mornings in a row after fainting in the nursing home…fainting is nothing new for her and the hospital could find nothing wrong with her either time…while I was sitting in the ER with her the 1st morning, I learned that the Brown boys just don’t make the best choices in women….WHAT..I assume all she meant was because the brothers are both divorced…and secondly…she mentioned that she had noticed how fat women seem to be the ones who really eat fast….uh HELLO…this and the history of my mother saying whatever pops into her mind makes me really wonder if old people become unsympathetic, have no filters or just become tactless as they age.  Good grief…they have both said things to me and in front of me that  could totally break my heart if I thought they were actually speaking from the heart rather than just their narcissistic/jaded/mindless thoughts.

Dianne and Bob drove over from Omaha to visit MIL today then stopped by for a short visit….it was good seeing both of them…Dianne is going to school to be a massage therapist…she did a little work on my left shoulder and neck…I”m telling you…she’s the best sister-in-law a woman could have 🙂

…and finally,  I consider Facebook to be my place to really express myself…let me just end by saying Hugh Jackman is a very, very fine looking man….I’ll leave it at that…

Until next time…..

  1. LOL about the “filters”.  Even young people don’t have them sometimes.  My son was telling me about a friend from school, and he said, “Mom, Evan has no filter”!  I was kind of surprised to hear that term from him!  Does your MIL have some dementia, perhaps?  My mother said some horrible things to me during the course of her Alzheimer’s.  Of course, she did before that, too.  Ironically, she got a lot nicer to me, as time went on, and she wasn’t sure who I was!  :-pKathi

  2. Boy, I have noticed comments like that from my in-laws and my stepdad as they have gotten older; and also, since some of them can’t hear very well, they express these thoughts VERY loudly, so the subjects can hear them, too!

  3. It must be an old people thing.  Yes – there is a HUGE difference between 3 and 4 dogs.  Huge!  Hugh Jackman…hmm… I’ll have to ponder this.

  4. Yes…yes Hugh Jackman is a very very fine looking man! I would not take anything your MIL says to heart. She problobly has no clue that what she is saying is bothering you. Glad to hear that you are feeling better! Its about time 🙂
