Kate leaves in a few hours.  She’ll be on her way to Ohio… she is going to try to leave here around 3am which should put her in Cyahoga Falls about 2:00 pm.  I hate thinking about her driving that far alone!!!  I’ve pretty much kept my mouth shut, though.  She will understand when she is a mother.  It has been wonderful having her home… for the last 3 days we have been working on a 500 piece puzzle and watching the second season of sopranos.  To say we are hooked on Tony Soprano, et al would be an understatement 🙂

Phil and I went out to eat with Tom and Rhonda early New Years’ Eve.  We were in bed cold sober by 10:30.  I did get up because I couldn’t sleep and saw the new year in and went back to bed.  Tuesday (New Years) we went to Brett and Christas.  Kate went with us and Jenny and Ryan came after going to a movie and out to eat.  We played a new card game to us – Shanghai (sp).  Was lots of fun.  Brett kept my wine glass full so the game seemed a little more complicated than it probably really is 🙂

Had lunch with Karen yesterday.  She’s been back from her deployment in DC for a couple of months – seems to be settling back into life okay…We had a great therapy session – you know – tears, laughter, anger, despair.  Glad I don’t have to pay her for the therapy.  I wouldn’t be able to afford her.  Also went to see the family attorney yesterday, to see exactly what my options are with my mother.  She’s mentally slipping on a weekly basis and isn’t getting any sweeter…Aunt Frances is wanting to get out of there and move back to Des Moines – mom’s only choice, the way I see it, is back to the nursing home where she should have stayed.

Happy New Year, everyone – a little late….Need Kate to call from Cyahoga Falls and then I can actually breath that sigh of relief.
