Nothing like a good rain/sleet/snow/ice storm at 32 degrees to put everything into perspective. Thank goodness it was on a Saturday so we didn’t have the folks on the road going to work. Quite a few accidents this morning – about 15 cars currently off in the 30 mile stretch between Newton and Des Moines. I hear it every year at this time…if people would just slow down and not tailgate, there wouldn’t be so many accidents. I realize there is a whole different momentum when you live in a big city…and I certainly don’t want everyone to move to small towns and the country… but the speed of life is so much more pleasant – relaxed- layed back whatever you want to call it. It took me about 4 years when I moved from Des Moines to get rid of the frantic driving mentality. anyway…hopping off my soap box now.
Mom and Aunt Frances got to mom’s yesterday. Things are not good. Mom can’t get her wheelchair thru the bathroom door and as I predicted she can’t walk from the door to the throne so there is an obvious problem. The electric wheel chair didn’t make it because of the weather…we are in a holding pattern…their will against reality. It is what it is.
Tomorrow is the last regular fantasy football game – I do get to play in the toilet bowl the week after. The loser of the game actually wins the toilet bowl game – I think there is some “trash talk” in my future. I mean – why not – we’re circling the drain.
Stay warm and dry and safe if you are in the midwest. This too shall pass.
Until next time…..
