Taking the white clothes out of the dryer today, there were two pairs of socks. One ankle pair that belonged to me and a pair of mid calf, thick, robust socks that belonged to him. I sighed realizing cold weather has arrived. For him, anyway. I will continue to wear my Offos flip flops until we have snow. Of course, this year I won’t be going anywhere because of flu/COVID season so perhaps flip flops will see me through until spring.
For as long as I’ve been aware of the washing machine and dryer, I’ve been aware of the urban legends of what happens to 1 out of every so-many pairs of socks. Nothing disappears in the act of doing laundry like socks…I maintain that we can continue to complain as we try to mate socks or we can just reach blindly into the dryer and just mate them as they come out. Where is it written that the person who does laundry must be the responsible adult.
Which brings me to sock manufacturers. Why do they mess with us. Why do they insist on a black logo one year, perhaps a blue one another year. I have several pair of black, gray and white design socks and each one identical EXCEPT each pair has a different color of stripe around the ankle. WHY WHY WHY. Is this really necessary? Socks are stuffed in shoes…and worn during the same season that long pants cover the rest of them. Why make this complicated?
Until next time when we will discuss why food that misses the mouth is only attracted to white shirts!
For the 3rd Tuesday in a row, my facial at Evolve, AKA removing dead skin from the old woman’s face, has had to be rescheduled. Weather, salon flooding, weather. I feel like I’ve given myself permission to eat some dark chocolate at the end of the day and then I can’t get the wrapper off 🍫 so I have to wait until the next day to actually eat it. It has been sleeting all day and I keep checking the temperature but it is pretty much steady at 31 degrees. I’m trying to stay positive but I’m positive I can’t think of any advantage of freezing rain!
I wish I was one of those people who might take today and turn it around by soaking in a warm bubble bath with candles and a good book. But, I don’t like to take baths……for so many reasons. I’ve been struggling with lower back pain the last few days…he suggested I take a warm bath in our jetted tub to ease the discomfort. He suggested it 4 times…I said no, 3 times….finally I started running the water, a couple drops of essential oils, Epson salts and a small squeeze of bubble bath because I had no intentions of taking a normal bath to get clean because I don’t think that it is possible in a bath. Top of my list for why I don’t appreciate a bath. When I’ve been suckered into a nice warm bath before, we found the trick to the right amount of water to just below the front and back jets and then when the body is lowered into the tub, it is perfect. He has to start the timer for me because without the body displacing water, when the jets start there is a hell of a mess. Unfortunately with the roar of the tub and him retiring to the living room for his peace of mind, the bubbles started overtaking me. Think cartoon image…..when I yelled his name to help the sound of my voice was muffled into the bubble and no sound was released until the bubble popped. FINALLY he rescued me before it reached my nostrils and I held my tongue and did not say….SEE, THIS IS WHY I DIDNT WANT TO TAKE A BATH, DAMNIT!
Note to self. When using epson salts and bubble bath, a little dab’ll do ya!
Until next time….
I’ve been having difficulty finding a book that holds my interest. I like a book that grabs me at the first sentence…yet when this happens, it means that I can’t wait to find out what happens in the end…so halfway through I read ahead to find out what happens and then spend the rest of the story regretting that decision. This is probably the reason I have never read the same book twice. The closest I’ve come is Leon Uris, Exodus or maybe the Thornbirds…
I also can count on maybe two fingers the number of times I’ve watched a movie after reading the book. I think it has to do with my personality and my displeasure with boredom in general. The other obstacle is I cannot read/absorb violence or just generally when bad things happen to people that causes pain and/or agony. So in today’s genre of movies and literature, My options are very limited.
There are 4 movies I have watched multiple times Ice storm, obviously Dirty Dancing, Jennifer Beals and her double in Flashdance and my annual Ellen Burstyn/Alan Alda Same Time Next Year. Oh and the Sound of Music because of the music, julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer and the music. Interestingly, I recently watched a Christopher Plummer Movie a few nights ago which was pretty good.
And this little look into my brain is finished and inserted in Dear Diary……it’s time for some CHIEFS football.
Until next time…..
Every time we drive through the heart of Kansas City we see something else we want to explore. There are the sports venues which we hear about all of the time. There’s the Plaza (PLAWZA), Crown Center and BBQ restaurants – too many to name…and then there is the Starlight Theater which is aptly named because it is star entertainment in an open air venue under the stars. It is extraordinary!
Ease of ingress and egress is amazing, parking is convenient, comfort, acoustics, selection of beverages and food and the bathrooms! The first time I used the restroom at Starlight I was in shock. This is how a women’s restroom should be configured!
Stalls on both sides in two sections. There is no waiting in line…
He and I attended our second Chicago concert last week…this time they were with Earth Wind and Fire.
and the encore – the groups together
It is worth the drive to KC for the ambiance!
Until next time….
