Happiness gently landed on my shoulders

The Prince and his throne

I got up just before 0700 this morning to find the “prince” with his head on the desk telling me that he was sick…at midnight he started up-chucking after he ate a bowl of taco soup I made for the Super Bowl…now while I don’t think I would be eating taco soup that is 10 days old, I really don’t think that is what caused his illness…he was flushed and drinking 7up…I’ve always thought drinking 7up, itself, caused nausea but it could be a childhood thing??  I sent him back to bed with a tylenol pm and went about my day…msmandylee verbalized on Facebook what I had been thinking…I decided that if he gives me back that horrible stomach flu that he will be found below ground in our own private little pet cemetary….

The way he started telling me that he was sick was by informing me that I had to take Sierra (the yellow lab) and Billy aka William Jefferson Clinton (mama’s pride and joy cat) to the vet by myself…WHAT…he must have misunderstood and thought I was going to go with him….I watched Mondays Y and R that I had recorded and also Guiding Light because Grant Alexander was making a comeback from the dead on Guiding Light.  During commercials I cleaned up the kitchen, dusted the livingroom and computer room, did butler and doorman service for the dogs in and out and in and out…you’d think it was 60 degrees or something.  Freckles – my mother in laws dog who is spending quality time with us while she is in the nursing home – has not learned the pack mentality and also hasn’t figured out the cats could rip him a new one.  He runs around whining and chasing the cats and I think whining like a two year old child just because he can….He’s driving me nuts!!!  Anyway…put on my old clothes and loaded Billy and Sierra up in my truck…they were very well behaved and I heard not a peep out of either one of them…Billy usually screams at the top of his lungs anytime I put him in the carrier and also place him in a moving vehicle.  Sierra had 2 shots, a heart worm test and heart worm meds, Billy had a rabies shot and required meds for some kind of ear infection – could be mites but everytime the vet put the scope down far enough to see anything, Billy shook his head and he didn’t want to irritate Billy anymore…It was in the 60’s oustide and the little room which contained me, dog, cat, vet and vet assistant had to be at least 80…I had sweat dripping down my back by the time I got out of there 228 dollars later…holy fleabag, batman.

Then I went to Carl and Jane’s house along with Jenny and Ryan to celebrate Carls’ birthday…the kids got him one of those little ipods…he likes the Johnny Cash music and when it was loaded he was singing along with it and then talking loud to us – we all would giggle like a bunch of middle school children and he would say … WHAT..AM I TALKING LOUD?..Ryan said this would be fun if we could only be drinking a little…get tanked up and slap the ipod on dad for a good time.  I took pictures of him – he is so cute…I’ll add them to xanga when I get a chance.  I think the ipod will really be great this spring when he starts walking outside…the kids got Jane an ipod for her birthday last month…we are concerned because Carl likes the slow classicals and piano music and Jane likes the upbeat shake your bootie type of music…I think being an observer on the street corner may be just what the doctor ordered this spring…

Until next time…..

  1. OMG, I laughed and laughed-AM I TALKING LOUD?  Going to the vet – man, it’s like robbery!  I have to plan an elaborate kidnapping in order to get out cats to the vet these days.  The dogs always go willingly until they realize where they are….uh oh….Well – Cordy anyway.  One year we decided we would take all 6 in at the same time – when we had 6 (cats/dogs).  $750.00!  WHAT?!  Okay – that was not really smart after all.   Hope your man is feeling better and you don’t get sick again!
