Happiness gently landed on my shoulders

Liberation

Thanks to Malia, we finally have a wii…she called Tuesday night while leaving Walmart to say she saw on my blog that I was looking for a wii and if I’m still looking, Walmart has 5.  I nearly yanked him out of the shower to get him on the road to Walmart.  Tonight, Kim tells me that Walmart in Newton said Walmart in Grinnell has a large selection of wii fit so we should stop there tonight while we are in Grinnell.  Oh..did I mention why we were going to be in Grinnell tonight?

Quite a while ago, Kim and I were talking about having our cartlilage on the top of our ears pierced.  Nicole, bless her heart, told Jenny that they should take Kim and I to get the piercing done then maybe we could go somewhere for supper…This was kind of put on the backburner until Tuesday night – election night – we were at Jenny’s and decided to do it the next night – although I had decided by that time that I wanted a little diamond chip in the side of my nostril instead of my upper ear.  Kim also decided against the cartilage piercing – she was leaning more toward getting a tat.  Well, to put an end to this endless story.  Nicole, Kim, Sarah, Jenny and I ended up at the tat/piercing parlor in Grinnell tonight – I was the winner..I came away with a pierce and a small peace sign on my upper hip…Kim and Sarah both got peace sign tramp stamps and Jenny got a nostril piercing…Nicole had her hands full keeping everyone relaxed and organized…

Now before you write asking if we have totally lost our minds or are trying this lame attempt at hanging on to our youth, let me explain….for me…this was a liberating act…if you’ve been there, you will understand exactly how it felt…if you aren’t there yet…it is coming.  Perhaps you will cross over quietly…we each do it in our own way.  I won’t judge your actions…carpe diem

Until next time….

  1. YAY! That’s awesome – I got my “first” tattoo when I was 36.  It IS liberating!  My 2nd tattoo will be one of my boys sketches of one of his characters he likes to draw.  Something simple.  I like the idea of the peace sign tramp stamp though and I’ve longed for a mermaid too…..Something for another day.

  3. I have always thought that if I were to get a tat that a peace sign would be way up there on my list of things to get. Happy liberation day!
