Happy Birthday Dad

He would have been 97 today.  Thinking about his age helps me to not feel bad that he is gone.  He would not have wanted to be around at 97 considering where his eye sight was going at 84 when he actually passed away….but even though it has been 13 years – nearly 14 years, I’ve had some tearful moments…they pass… the pain never quite goes away…as time goes by it does get easier to go deeper to remember him.

If you read my blog a couple of days ago about @Hobby Lobby, know that I have rethought my shopping there.  I don’t disagree with anything I said in my blog but according to conversations and comments, apparently I did not look deep enough into what lots of people were finding offending about the management of the company…their healthcare for women…and now, I wonder if I need to stop spending my money and supporting the disfunction.  Its going to be hard and it really pisses me off that I may have to make this decision.  I continue to justify why I’m still going to shop at @Hobby Lobby the way I justify continuing to buy my home products from Melaleuca the anti gay company…I feel I need  to stand behind my convictions.  So until I figure this out…..please ignore me if you see me there…I’ll be the one wearing the disguise I bought at Michaels!

Until next time…

Yaaaawwwwwwn

I’m up too early this morning after my 3 hours of sleep yesterday…I was asleep by 2am this morning and the dogs woke me up at 0700 because they were hungry – although by the looks of the cat feeder in the computer room, looks like the dogs had a midnight snack.

We went to Des Moines yesterday afternoon to do a little shopping and out to eat.  We hit Hobby Lobby first because they close at 8…everything I bought was 50% off – I’m sure with the mark-up Hobby Lobby isn’t losing money and it sure makes me feel good.  Toward the end, I felt I should probably wind it up so I didn’t have to drag his carcass thru the store because he was so hungry.

Red Lobster food was awesome…the atmosphere sucked for the amount of money it costs.  The hostess seated us in the same room with a group of 18 people celebrating a birthday.  I’m pretty sure most of them were related due to the fact it was a birthday party – how do I know this – because they sang Happy Birthday to the 18 year and had cake with candles.  The older folks were pretty quiet and there was some occasional conversation among the obvious sisters…but of course, one had to stand out – she may have been the mother of the birthday boy but she had one of those loud cackle laughs and she appeared very happy.  I couldn’t even hear the waitress when she was asking me what type of potato I wanted.  She mouthed “sorry”.  I have no doubt the woman was either very happy and friendly or totally uncomfortable with a nervous laugh… but it was annoying.

Went to the mall – it was about to close but I needed bras.  Two I bought on-line that I got for a really good price, have already bitten the dust so decided to bite the bullet and pay for what I wanted.

Walmart to get a little green machine for small carpet accidents…

Pumpkin cream pie from Village Inn that we consumed in less than 5 minutes and then home.  We watched NCIS and I tried to watch the Mentalist but ended up going to bed…he stayed up until 0400 because he has to go back to work tonight …you know what that means…woo hoo…I get the bed to myself tonight….

Until next time…
