For those of you who have made it thru my mother rants – thank you – here comes another one. I have pretty much removed myself from my mother’s daily life. She lives next door so I’m not far away if anything happens….happens, huh…like I was going over several times a week because there was something wrong with her remote…nothing wrong with the remote. As I am sure is pretty common for older folks, when she wakes up from a nap, she is totally disoriented and usually thinks she is about to die. There have been many late night calls because she is sooo sick…I’ve found that if I give her a few minutes, she will call back realizing that there is nothing wrong with her. This just happened with the most recent ambulance call – she wouldn’t respond to Aunt Frances (who has moved back to her life in Des Moines) so Aunt Frances called an ambulance for her and she refused to even let them touch her…..so….
Mid day on Friday, she called to let me know she thought she had pneumonia…I told her that I was sleeping and had to go to work tonight and she should call the doctor to make an appointment…she was worried about getting out with our weather and I said…if you get bad enough mom we can always call an ambulance to get you. The way it was returned to me today, I said I can’t help you mom, I have plans you’ll have to call an ambulance. This narcissistic woman also told her everyother day caretaker (who is the daughter of one of my best friends) that Nina doesn’t care about me she just wants to put me out to pasture.
Meanwhile back at the looney bin, I called her Saturday to see if I needed to take her to the ER for her pneumonia…she said…oh, no…I’m just fine…..
Sometimes you just have to laugh……
Until next time…..
Gee…it is up to 11 above…now we are getting heavy snow….I give up
I think one of the most satisfying things in my life is purging and organizing. I know it is probably some psychy thing that I want to organize and purge when I feel that things are out of control in my life…ya…I really do think that is true. Tonight I cleaned out my work bag…read a couple of Oprah magazines – one of them from September – and put them in the drawer for everyone else to read…I put some female products in the drawer in the bathroom for someone else to use since I have fortunately officially passed go .. if you know what I mean… I cleaned out the CRAP from under the break table – most of the stuff just needed to be put in their spots…ahhh feels good.
Last night before I came to work, He and I finished wrapping Christmas presents and I was able to bring all of the gifts for my coworkers and put them around the tree and get them out of my house. I cleaned up the room we wrapped in aka Kate’s bedroom. She is on her way home from Cleveland on the train. I got a text message from her around 5:30 that said she is freezing and can’t sleep. I’m just guessing that this may be the first and the last train trip for her.
“He” did the Christmas grocery shopping yesterday…ya, I know..I’m lucky. He makes pies too. 🙂
Tracy tlm0000 made it home after an extended stay in Des Moines…damn that snow and ice – huh, Tracy. It was very exciting to meet her in person. Msmandylee and I were very sorry that her trip was so short…well short here, if we had only known she would get stuck at the airport, I would have taken her home and let her sleep in the Christmas wrapping room 🙂
Craig should be pulling into the parking lot…I’ve actually been trying to mentally will him to be early but it hasn’t worked yet. I will soon be off to lalala land….
Until next time….
Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given their
new wives duties.
The first man had married a woman from Ohio and had told her that she
was going to do the dishes and house cleaning.. It took a couple of
days, but on the third day he came home to see a clean house and dishes
washed and put away.
The second man had married a woman from Illinois. He had given his wife
orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes, and the cooking.
The first day he didn’t see any results but the next day he saw it was
By the third day, he saw his house was clean the dishes were done, and
there was a huge dinner on the table.
The third man had married a beautiful girl from Iowa. He told her that
her duties were to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed,
laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the
first day he didn’t see anything, the second day he didn’t see anything
but by the third day some of the swelling had gone down and he could see
a little out of his left eye enough to fix himself a sandwich and load
I was moved to tears tonight listening to Master Sgt Caleb Green singing O Holy Night. He performed during Christmas in Washington on TNT… I listened to it several times, then hooked it up to the stereo so I could get the full effect. I’m at a loss for words.
Here it is……..
This is a very touching and heartwarming story about folks who welcome home our soldiers at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport.
This picture says it all
it explains why I don’t have ornaments in the lower half of the tree…it explains why I don’t have the ribbon that matches the bows around the tree
The fact that it has been on the floor several times explains why all of the ornaments are deshelved and last of all it explains why it just looks naked!!
